Regulations

Bluebook digital testing is user-friendly and designed to keep testing smooth and secure. Here are some of the regulations:

  1. You can take AP exams on a variety of devices, including Macs, Windows computers, iPads, and school-provided Chromebooks. The College Board will provide the necessary equipments, such as loaner devices and Wi-Fi, for students taking AP exams.
  2. Internet connection is only required to start and submit the AP exam. If your internet connection drops during the exam, you can continue without interruption.
  3. Once the proctor starts the exam, Bluebook will automatically manage the time and submit your answers when the exam is over.
  4. If there's a major internet outage or other unexpected problem that stops you from submitting your answers at the end of the exam, you have 4 days to find a connection and submit them.
  5. Accommodations such as extended time are provided in Bluebook.
  6. Students will have plenty of chances to practice with digital AP exams using tools like the Bluebook app and AP Classroom. Before the exam, students can get used to digital AP exams with practice tests, videos, and other resources.

Testing Logistics

  1. Digital exams require the same number of proctors as paper exams.
  2. You can take your AP exams in a space that's comfortable for you, like a classroom, library, or cafeteria.

Basic Requirements

  1. The number of sections, questions, question types, and time limits for the AP exams will stay the same.
  2. Students can review or finish earlier questions within a section, but they cannot go back to sections they've already completed.
  3. Digital AP exams allow students to take notes, highlight important information, and plan their answers on scratch paper provided by the proctor.
  4. AP calculator policies are unchanged
  5. Bluebook will include helpful references like the periodic table, equation sheets, and Java Quick Reference.

Tips for Excelling in The Digital AP Exam

The Digital AP Exam offers a unique set of challenges and opportunities compared to the traditional paper-based tests. With its growing popularity, it’s crucial for students to understand the best strategies to navigate this format effectively. Below, we’ve compiled essential tips to help you excel in your Digital AP Exam.

Make Sure Your Technology is Ready

Technical issues can be a significant source of stress. To avoid this, ensure that your device meets the technical requirements set by the College Board. Install any necessary software updates. It’s also wise to have a backup plan, such as a secondary device or access to another network, just in case something goes wrong.

Get to Know The Exam’s Layout

Before the exam day, make sure you’re comfortable with the digital interface. The College Board offers practice tests that simulate the actual exam environment. Use these to familiarize yourself with the layout, tools, and features, such as highlighting and striking through text, so that you can navigate the exam efficiently.

Practice Time Management

Time management is key to succeeding in any exam, but it’s especially important in a digital format where flipping back and forth between questions can be more cumbersome. Practice answering questions under timed conditions to get a feel for how long you can afford to spend on each one. Use a timer during practice sessions to mimic exam conditions as closely as possible.

Stay Calm and Focused

The digital format can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially if you’re used to paper-based exams. Practice mindfulness and stress management techniques, such as deep breathing exercises, to help keep calm during the test. Remember that it’s normal to feel some anxiety, but with proper preparation, you can keep it under control.

That’s all you need to know about the digital AP exam. Make sure you understand it if you’re going to take the exam. By understanding the regulations and implementing these tips, you can ace the exam!
